WHY DOES MY TANK LEAK?

Have you ever found e-liquid at the bottom of your pocket or purse? Whether you're a beginner or an experienced smoker, are you fed up with your e-liquid sticking to your electronic cigarette? We've collected a number of reasons for this phenomenon and solutions to avoid it.

- Your resistor needs changing

The main cause of e-liquid leakage is a resistor that has reached the end of its life. We remind you that your resistor should be changed every 10-15 days. In fact, when it wears out, flavor rendition is altered, vapor is less important and, above all, your cotton no longer absorbs the liquid sufficiently, which is how the liquid most often escapes through the airflows. Remember to change your resistor as soon as you notice a change in flavor, to avoid the unpleasant dry hit (burnt taste).

- Poor resistance priming

Priming your resistance is an essential step. It involves soaking the cotton of the resistance before you start vaping. To do this, pour a few drops of liquid onto the visible cotton of your resistance, then slide your resistance into your tank, fill it three-quarters full, and wait a good ten minutes before taking your first drag. Note that the time required to impregnate the cotton wick depends on the composition of your e-liquid. The higher the VG content, the longer the priming time.

If this process is carried out incorrectly, or not at all, you'll get an unpleasant dry hit and your e-cig will leak.

- A tank filled to the brim

Very often, if you notice your e-liquid leaking, it's because you've overfilled your clearomizer. Of course, you should always have some liquid in your tank to prevent your resistor from drying out. But be careful not to fill it to the brim. It's best to fill it three-quarters full. If, when you pull on your drip tip, you hear a slight liquid noise, this means that your tank is overfilled. Beware, a "gloupgloup" is the precursor of a liquid splash in the mouth and a leak.

- A PG/VG level not adapted to your resistance

The PG/VG ratio should be adapted to your resistance. Indeed, PG is very fluid and VG rather viscous. They are not absorbed in the same way by the resistor, which must have an ohm value adapted to the ratio. The higher the VG content of your e-liquid, the more powerful your resistor will need to be, and therefore the lower the ohm value. If your e-liquid contains more PG, your resistor should be 1 ohm or more.

- Poorly cleaned or worn equipment

Let's start with your drip tip. It's important to clean it daily so that condensation doesn't stagnate in the mouthpiece. This condensation will cause your e-liquid to splash out when you inhale. And that's how you end up with lots of hot liquid in your mouth.

Secondly, it can come from the seals. Whether they're worn or badly repositioned following a complete cleaning of your tank, the liquid will leak out. When cleaning your tank, remember to check the condition of these seals. If they are worn, you can replace them to prevent future leaks.

- A change in temperature or atmospheric pressure

High temperatures tend to thin your e-liquid. Avoid leaving your electronic cigarette near your radiators or fireplace in winter, and make sure you keep it away from heat in summer. Don't leave it in direct sunlight, or in your car.

Similarly, a change in atmospheric pressure will cause your e-liquid to leak. If you're flying, remember to empty your tank before take-off and place your bottles in an airtight pouch. If you're going on a skiing vacation, remember to open your filler flap or use your electronic cigarette regularly during the ascent to adapt your clearomizer to the new atmospheric pressure.

- Conclusion

To avoid e-liquid leaks, make sure you take good care of your tank, clean it regularly, especially the mouthpiece, and change your resistor and wear parts frequently. Finally, match the composition of your e-liquid to the resistance you use.
